Principal Value Resummation

We present a new resummation formula for the Drell-Yan cross section. The formal resummation of threshold corrections in Drell-Yan hard-scattering functions produces an exponent with singularities from the infrared pole of the QCD running coupling. Our reformulation treats such ‘infrared renormalons’ by a principal value prescription, analogous to a modified Borel transform. The resulting expre...

Principal-value Resummation for Dilepton Production

We present a new method of resummation of QCD threshold distributions to the hard scattering function of the dilepton production cross section in hadron-hadron collisions. Our formulation by-passes the infrared singularities of the QCD running coupling through a principal value prescription, and does not require an explicit infrared cut-off. The resulting large corrections exponentiate, and we ...

Resummation of non-global logarithms at finite Nc

In the context of inter-jet energy flow, we present the first quantitative result of the resummation of non-global logarithms at finiteNc. This is achieved by refining Weigert’s approach in which the problem is reduced to the simulation of associated Langevin dynamics in the space of Wilson lines. We find that, in e+e− annihilation, the exact result is rather close to the result previously obta...

Super-leading logarithms in non-global observables in QCD

We report the discovery of super-leading logarithmic terms in non-global QCD observables. We use the 'gaps between jets' cross-section as a concrete example and illustrate that the new logarithms are intimately connected with the presence of Coulomb gluon contributions. We present some estimates of their likely phenomenological significance.

Beyond Leading Logarithms

The renormalization group evolution of ∆B = 2 transition operators is studied at leading order in heavy quark effective theory and at next-to-leading order in QCD. We calculate new contributions that were not taken into account in previous work and obtain the complete result to next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. The various scheme and scale dependences and their cancellation in physical quan...
